Burna Boy’s Offer to Pay Gossip Blogs in Exchange for Privacy

Renowned Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy recently took to Twitter to express his exasperation with constant media coverage, extending an unusual proposition to gossip blogs. Despite his electrifying performance on November 3rd in Los Angeles, criticism continued to swirl on social media. In response, the artist appealed to blogs to cease writing about him, even offering financial incentives to make it happen.

The artist, known for his hit songs and global acclaim, vented his frustration at the persistent media scrutiny, suggesting that he was willing to pay blogs to halt their coverage. He tweeted, “How far? all these Instablog, PulseNg, etc., please convene and decide how much I’ll pay you to forget my name completely. I acknowledge that I haven’t paid any of you before, so I’ve decided to clear the slate. I salute you, my people!”

One of his fans pointed out that this could lead to Burna Boy fading into obscurity. Surprisingly, the artist seemed unfazed and responded, “I’ll pay first. If anyone dares to remember my name after I settle this, so be it. All this fuss is because ORAIMO doesn’t use cords anymore. I’ll pay first. If anyone dares to remember my name after I settle this, so be it. All this fuss is because ORAIMO doesn’t use cords anymore.”

This unconventional proposal sparked various reactions from his fans, with some emphasizing the importance of staying in the public eye as a celebrity. They noted that once the chatter about a celebrity ceases, it often signals a decline in relevance. Burna Boy’s pride in his career success was understandable, but they cautioned against becoming less visible like Shatta Wale.

Other fans reminded Burna Boy that while gossip blogs might sometimes publish inaccurate information, they had also played a significant role in promoting his career. They highlighted that many people might not have heard about his achievements and projects if these blogs hadn’t covered them. They advised him to place less emphasis on bloggers and refocus his energy on making music.
