DJ Fatxo breaks silence on death of Geoffrey Mwathi

Title: DJ Faxto Calls for Swift Investigation into Jeff Mwathi’s Death as Police Raid His Homes

Subtitle: Self-proclaimed religious leader, DJ Faxto, faces allegations and seeks transparency in ongoing probe

In a recent turn of events, DJ Faxto, the ex-Mungiki leader-turned-self-proclaimed religious leader, has found himself entangled in the investigation surrounding the death of fashion designer Jeff Mwathi. As the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) conducts its inquiries, Faxto is urging the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to expedite the investigation and make its findings public. The artist claims that the allegations against him have not only impacted his personal life but have also adversely affected his music and entertainment career.

The events leading up to the current situation unfolded on the morning of May 12 when a contingent of police officers reportedly raided three of Faxto’s residences in Nakuru, Nairobi, and Laikipia. The reasons for the raid remain unclear. Prior to the incident, Faxto had been engaged in burial preparations at the home of the late Field Marshal Mukami Kimathi in Njabini, Kinangop. The self-proclaimed religious leader strongly believes that the raid and subsequent investigations are politically motivated and constitute harassment.

Speaking to a local publication, Faxto expressed his perplexity, stating, “They said they were looking for me. I do not know why, but I see it as politics and harassment, which should stop.” The singer, who was present at the burial ceremony of Mukami on May 13, was among the leaders who graced the event, which was also attended by President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The allegations against DJ Faxto stem from his alleged involvement in the murder of fashion designer Jeff Mwathi, who passed away on February 22, 2023. Seeking transparency in the ongoing investigation, Faxto, through his lawyer, has requested that the DPP disclose the details surrounding Mwathi’s death. In a statement dated May 12, 2023, Faxto emphasized his desire for a fair, independent investigation and urged the timely release of the investigation’s findings to the public.

“Our client has as a matter of fact been greatly negatively affected by the manufactured, widely promulgated and circulated accusations, innuendos, and allegations of how the deceased met his death with the same prematurely and without any basis whatsoever alleging criminal culpability to our client,” the statement read.

Faxto lamented the detrimental impact the situation has had on his music and entertainment career, citing financial losses and the interruption of his performance schedule. “I was performing weekend after weekend; from Thursday through to Sunday. I had huge bookings before all these (Jeff Mwathi’s death) happened. I was making some good money, let’s say millions. For three months now, I have lost more,” he expressed.

The singer emphasized that the truth is the key to his liberation from the assumptions and allegations surrounding the case. With the matter being of public interest, Faxto expects the DPP to act swiftly and ensure a thorough investigation is carried out.

“We believe that the panacea to the anxiety that has built up in the minds of the family, friends, and relatives of the late Mwathi on one part, and also the suffering and tribulations by our client on the other part, is the expedient discharge of your mandate and the communication of the same,” the statement concluded.

As DJ Faxto awaits further developments in the investigation, the public remains curious about the truth behind Jeff Mwathi’s untimely demise and the potential involvement of the ex-Mungiki leader. The urgency for a fair and transparent resolution to the case grows as both Faxto’s reputation and his future in.
